Be afraid be very afraid?

I posted the folowing as a comment at IUSB vision Weblog comment:

The chilling thing is the way Obama and his campaign are trying desperately through thugs threats and worst of all demands on the Justice Department that people be prosecuted for letting the American people know that Obama and Ayers were more than passing acquaintances and in fact were thick as thieves (as my Mother would say). I Kid with Larry at no left turnz about see you in the camps believing it is just a joke. Now I’m not so sure. If you are going to demand that the Justice Department prosecute people for telling the truth when you’re not in power what will you do whenn you are in power?

This is a worst case senario which if I thought would actually happen would make me consider shutting down. The point is Obama's response is very troubling. More on this latter.

The We in We're Open all Night

Hello all who stumble upon this blog. I am excited to be participating in this piece of the American Pie. I was invited to this page because I am the youngest of Theo P's daughters and the only one interested in politics. (My other two sisters are happy to vote based on the cheat sheet my father sends them in the mail.) I also love to write.

Politically I am not as party line as Theo P is. I label myself a libertarian when someone forces me to check a box. But it is hard to say really. I am fiercely pro life, but from a feminist perspective. I believe women are hurt by abortion, and legalized abortion puts all of the responsibility of that decision on the woman, not okay. But I do worry about the state of back alley and over the border abortions if Roe v. Wade were ever overturned.

Mostly I care deeply about education. I am a public school teacher in one of the hardest schools in one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. I am well aware the public school system is failing millions of students. They are my kids. I teach them, we share life. I want better for them. I don't think NCLB is cutting it. In my experience (full disclosure, my school has never made AYP) it is the best teachers who are punished, and so they move on to a school that will succeed.

Unfortunately for me, education does not seem to be a huge issue this election cycle. I have checked both candidates policies and think they both stink.

I will try to remain on subject, as this is a political blog, but don't be surprised if my students (from here on identified as my kids) sneak in.

It ain't easy being gentle of spirit When the LIbs may win

I originally posted this in May of 2007. I am posting it again to remind myself. My new found friend Larry over at No Left Turnz was nice enough to look at We're Open all Night and to mention he liked "the seasoned with salt" thing even though He is more of a Jalapeno Pepper. The conservative movement needs both and other spices to if we are to succeed. I love National Review online and Powerline for their Intellect, analysis, and insight. I read them in the morning and then listen to them quoted and their text referred to all day long on talk radio (often without attribution). I love Bill Bennett who brings candor intelligence and good will to my morning, only in America can I pick up the phone and have a shot at talking to a former drug Czar and Sec. of Education . I love Annie and Rush for their Humor and ability to throw a jab right to the Liberal solar plexis even though I sometimes think they go over the top often unnecessarily. I Love Hannity for his bulldog tenacity. There are many more, Victor Davis Hansen even Christopher Hitchens when he is not talking Atheism, Bill O'Rielly and the gang at Townhall. All are needed and welcome. Anyway Here is my reminder. Things haven't gotten easier since May of 2007. You may replace the Clintons with BHO at least for the present.

God calls us to be gentle in spirit and voice, our conversation always seasoned with salt. This admonition on the mast head of We're Open All Night is harder to heed these days. It is easy to be gentle in spirit and voice when your side seems to be winning the political wars at least for the moment and your trust in the American voter is vindicated by the return to the White House of a President who is doing what needs to be done to keep your grand daughter from some day shopping at "Berkas R Us" while appointing Supreme Court Justices who aren't out to amend the Constitution by judicial fiat. It is much tougher to heed that call when the same American voter puts the other guys in control of the House and Senate and "She who's name shall not be spoken" seems to be headed for the White House along with her cigar smoking? perjury committing husband (See what I mean that wasn't gentle in spirit).

So I must redouble my efforts trust that the American people will eventually do what is right if given the opportunity and stay gentle in spirit and in speech seasoned with salt remembering that through such activities God conquered the Roman Empire and he might still be working in America.

Social Conservatives should deal with Rudy

Today I posted at Powerline forum an off shoot of my favorite political blog by the same name.

I believe Rudy is the only Republicans who can beat “she who must not be named”. For one thing he is an expert at handling and taking down what will surely be a hostile MSM. I also am, a strong prolifer but I do not think that losing the white house to Hil. R C will protect unborn babies. I would not only vote for but work for Rudy if he would do two things: 1. Commit to not spending tax payer money killing babies and 2. Commit not to the general principal of constructionist Judges but to a specific list of candidates he would appoint starting with DC appellate Judge Janice Rogers Brown, on that list could be Rick Santorum and Mike DeWine both solid prolife ex Senators. The last precedent for this Eisenhower making a deal with Earl Warren was a disaster for conservatives. A deal committing to specific appointees now could turn that around and make it OK for prolifers including myself to get behind Rudy.

Two posts in one day

I am fed up with phony smears on My President. Read below

Kozelek - 28 April 2007 08:37 PM

I beg to differ. It is quite evident Gonzalez is doing his little “I cannot recall” shuffle to hide an organized attempt by Karl Rove to get the Federal Attorneys to more aggressively prosecute Democrats. To say that such a view is mere speculation is perhaps technically correct at this point, but given the wealth of evidence in its favor, that speculation is rapidly transitioning to fact, which is why Republican legislators are jumping ship on Gonzo daily. Gonzalez is just the public face at this point, but the story leads back to the White House- hence, it is indeed a “scandal.”

Those who have been following the story closely, and not merely reading the spin offered by the Wall Street Journal editorial pages and blogs like this one, know how deep and broad the effort to politicize the attorneys’ agendas was. It went beyond “focus more on immigration” and was often in line with “bring charges against Democrats, even if you don’t have enough evidence, so we can put heat on them at election time.” This isn’t traditional politics; it is dishonest tampering.

You will notice no evidence here just speculation . We know none of the above is true because if it was it would have been headlines in the NYT and WP like “Bush U.S. Attorney’s out to get Democrats” if any kind of thread could have been put together to that effect. Kozelek is just speculating and proves the point of the initial Powerline post. Ther is no evidence Bush ever lied and there is no scandal but that doesn’t deter the Bush hater’s.

You notice Kozelek couldn’t site a scandal just a made up one from his head. It is much like Hillary impugning the President with no evidence regarding finding things (other than cigars and Whitewater documents or documents from Vince Foster’s safe) under rugs in the oval office. If there is any evidence of scandal or criminality with this administration the drive byes will go on a six week tear. Don’t get your hopes up Kozelek the MSM and Democrats have turned over every rock and made every innuendo. The administration always cooperates fully (thus Scooter’s downfall) and the MSM always end up shooting blanks. I just hope the rest of the country (minus the nut balls of course) is getting as tired of it as I am.

About Dem private JET's

I'm back. I posted this in a thread at Powerline's forum and thought I was funny so I am reposting it here. Enjoy.

Glenn Bowen - 26 April 2007 08:55 PM
WASHINGTON—A flock of small jets took flight from Washington Thursday, each carrying a Democratic presidential candidate to South Carolina for the first debate of the political season.

But the Democrat candidates are (to paraphrase Senator Obama) working on changing the light bulbs in there houses, so use all the jet fuel you want. Democrats belief in global warming, sure they do, if it increases their power and control over your life, but not if it inconveniences them. The burning of thousands of pounds of jet fuel unnecessarily might mean that a warmer Globe appeals to them. Or, as I suspect it may mean that they don’t really view the Carbo loading of the atmosphere by man as a significant problem. Would that they were that astute. Well as Harry Truman almost said. “If you can’t stand the heat get off of the Planet”. (copy right all rights reserved) I think I will put that on a bumper sticker.

9/11 and the N. Y. Times

Last night I saw the Managing editor of the N.Y. Times being interviewed by Pete Rose about 9/11. He asked her what question she would ask or what was the thing that most surprised her about 9/11. Her response it is a great Mystery why another 9/11 event had not occurred. She said I don’t understand why we haven’t been hit again. Some of these possibilities would never occur to an editor at the N.Y. Times.

Maybe George W. Bush and the brave soldiers sailors airmen police FBI CIA NSA Customs Border Patrol Dept. of Homeland Security etc. working under the policies of this President has kept it from happening despite the desirers and best efforts of the Terrorists.

Maybe the Terrorists are busy in Iraq and Afghanistan or the more primitive “tribal” areas of Pakistan dodging predator drones and otherwise trying to stay alive and undetected.

Maybe the taking out of 75% of Al Queada’s leadership (killed or captured) has something to do with it.

Maybe there is Divine intervention.

It will probably remain a mystery to the N.Y. Times.

Sherrod Brown Advertising

Sherrod Brown is running against Senator Mike Dewine for the U.S. Senate. Even though he has been known for years as a far left liberal member of the House he obviously believes that if Ohioans knew his real record he would never get elected. So when Senator Dewine calls Brown on his voting record which is tax and spend, tax and spend, tax and spend he falsely claims that Senator DeWine is distorting that record.

Come on Congressman Brown be honest, stand up for who you've been all these years and who you are instead of trying to fool Ohio into thinking your some kind of moderate on taxes.

I wrote the Congressman a note to that effect via E-mail and encourage you to do the same. The content of my E-mail follows:

Dear Congressman Brown:

Everyone knows that you have for years been a far left tax and spend liberal. Now when Mike Dewine points this fact out you call it distorting your record. Your whole record is tax and spend, tax and spend, tax and spend. So who is distorting what Huh.

If you end up being elected you will be more of an embarrasement to Ohio than Howard Metzenbaum was and I became a Democrat to vote against him in the primary so I could vote against him twice in one year. It is almost Labor Day so LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

Wishing you and your family the best in your political retirement.

McCarthyite Red Herring

McCarthyite Red Herring

Mary McCarthy, CIA higher up is fired after admitting leaking classified information to  a WP reporter.  The leaking of that information is characterized as highly damaging by the CIA director before a congressional committee.  Prosecution does not  appear immediately in the cards but the investigation continues.  Ms. McCarthy turns out to be a  7K$  Kerry supporter and a high-powered intelligence muckety muck in the Clinton administration.   What is the response of the Democrats and the media antiquitus,  Scooter Libby, Scooter Libby, Scooter Libby. This is known in argumentation circles as the fallacy of the red herring.  When you don’t have a defensible position and the hounds are hot on the trail drag a fish a crossed the trail and hope the hounds follow the red herring instead of you (in this case the Washington post, Ms. McCarthy , and the democrats) The fact that these folks are more interested in throwing the American people off the track rather than see a person who has violated the law and damaged our national security  brought to justice speaks volumes about each players  priorities.

CBS previews its freebee Hillary Comercials for 2008

Last night was one of those rare occasions when I tuned into CBS news. What I saw was Hilary Clinton smiling into the camera as the reporter extolled the virtues of the Junior Senator from New York who was it seems fighting a one Woman battle to improve the country's 911 system and thus our security. Better get used to these freebee comercials for Senator Clinton in the Medias Antiquitus. Disquised as news they are certain to multiply as 2008 approaches. The appearance of these Clintonian newsmercials now in the spring of '06 should be fair warning of things to come. John McCain are you listening?

I'm Back (Again)

My last post was in August '05 partly because it seemed no one was reading or at least commenting. Recently another blogger commented and sent me an e-mail so here I am again a thank you to Arnoldlando 1471, his blog is here. I am now teaching at a local community college including two courses I have not taught before which are taking much time. I will try to post regularly .

NARAL Outcry Shows Misconceptions

Laura Berman in a recent column in the Detroit News http://www.detnews.com/2005/metro/0508/14/D01-279672 shows how successful the Abortion industry and its supporters have been in flinging mud at peaceful pro-life demonstrators. In her column Ms. Berman says this "The NARAL ad linked Roberts to the mad bombers of Operation Rescue, an extremist anti-abortion group. " There are no mad bombers in Operation Rescue. Operation Rescue is a group which executes non violent civil disobedience tactics such as sit ins between the baby being killed and the Doctor doing the killing (often called rescues). No pro-life group that I know advocates bombing anything. There hasn't been a clinic bombed in a long time and the few bombings that have taken place are the work of nut jobs. If you consider the fact that most of the individuals in the pro-life movement belief that babies are being killed in the abortion facility the restraint in the pro-life community has been extraordinary. If the same prejudice towards the civil rights movement had existed Martin Luther King would have been Lumped together with the Black Panther Party. Bombing abortion clinics is a felony and accusing innocent groups of engaging in that activity is liable per se. If you are going to write about a group at least know enough to keep from committing libel.

Fallen Warrior

Tragedy struck our family recently when my sister's oldest daughter died in an automobile accident. She was a brilliant and beautifull young women, salututarian of her highschool class and straight "A" student at Wheaton College, she had just graduated from Wheaton in May. She could have gone to any University or College in the country and chose Wheaton. She roomed with my middle daughter this past year and I got to know her better than I had known her in the past. Wheaton is the Alma Mater of Billy Graham, Jim and Elisabeth Elliot and others with names very familar in Evangelical circles. I used to think of it as the Harvard of Evangelicalism but I now know it is more like the Armed Service Academies or the Citadel. Wheaton produces Warriors for our Lord Jesus and his Kingdom. My Niece had become such a Warrior. She had done short term mission work abroad and in the inner Cities of New York and Chicago. She was driving to Chicago to start a job with a Christian agency working with children when the accident occurred. A description of My Niece would not be complete without telling you she was an acomplished floutist another tool which she used on her Lord's behalf. From an earthly point of view , my point of view, her death makes no sense but I trust Jesus that he knows better, He had good reason to call her home. Maybe he needed a Warrior for a special assignment, I don't know but I do trust Him. We will see her again so the loss is short term particularly in terms of eternity but the loss for that term is deep and the pain is intense for her family and friends. It was that loss that lead me to Job and through Job the Lord gave me some insight on how to grieve. I share those with you below:I was reading Job looking for understanding regarding My Niece's death. This passage gave me guidance on mourning the death of our children. First he mourned tearing his cloths etc. we should feel free to weep. Then Job worshiped. This is an amazing statement Job was worshiping God in his grief. In worshipping God Job said “God gave” We should celebrate her life. In worshipping God Job said “God takes away”, this is a lot tougher we need acknowledge Gods sovereignty over a situation we find abhorrent.(in Jobs case we know the main actor taking his kids life was Satan). We might find ourselves furious with God and need to tell him as we worship him. In the end we must be able to say with Job “blessed is the name of the Lord”.Job 1:18-22 While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house, (19) and, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you." (20) Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped. (21) He said, "Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be the name of Yahweh." (22) In all this, Job did not sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.

God's Special Forces

I had the opportunity a last weekend to attend the Graduation Ceremony for those individuals earning graduate degrees from Wheaton College. In evangelical circles Harvard University is often referred to as the Wheaton College of Secular America and I was happy to be at Wheaton College witnessing this event. Wheaton's motto is "For Christ and His Kingdom" and many of the Students on stage were finishing preparation to be Pastors or begin work in Biblical scholarship. Others had prepared for carriers where their Christian commitment would not be broadcast by their job title in areas like psychology or music. When the awards were handed out many of those receiving awards were not in attendance because they were already on the mission field in places like Zimbabwi, Cambodia, or the Ukraine. These Graduates and others like them are God's Special Forces fighting for Christ and His Kingdom using his weapons, sacrifice, love, patience, kindness, long suffering, and self control. May God speed each and every one of them and may His kingdom increase through their efforts.

New Blog R U Next

After watching Terri Shindler Schiavo die over 14 days at the hands of our Governments both Federal and the State of Florida I started a Blog dedicated to her memory and to exposing the culture of death that killed her. The Blog R U Next asked that most basic question when dealing with a State out of control R U Next, Am I Next. The answer is to quote Shakespeare "not in the Stars but in ourselves". My desire is that R U Next be a group Blog. If you would like to post on R U Next leave a comment telling me how to get in touch with you and I'll put you in the group that may post.
